Today I received shipment of the MB-D10 Multi-Power Battery Grip to be used with my Nikon D300. And I cannot wait to put it into use!
I recently watched DTown TV, hosted by Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski. I love this show! On a recent episode they talked about the MB-D10 and how with using 8 AA batteries you can get 8 frames per second from the D300. Since I shoot a lot of baseball games, I figured this would be a great addition to my setup.
Ordering from B&H is always a pleasure and some day I am actually going to get to see their store in New York City. Then with the informative UPS tracking system I could confirm the expected delivery date and watch the packages make their way to my front door. Amazing! It sure beats the Pony Express!
Opening new camera equipment is fun, too. So fun, in fact, that I always forget to take a photo of the unopened package sitting before me. Oh well, now it’s time to start putting this puppy into use!

I also like Scott Kelby’s program. He is a great author too and I have learned most of what I know about Photoshop from his books.

Things were fairly quiet on Thursday evening and Friday morning, but quite a few people showed up for the weekend and traffic was heavy on the hill (for winter) on Saturday evening.
Two different groups were seen frequently. They told us they were keeping a close eye on the bulls, in hopes of seeing them drop antlers.
I always enjoy getting nrew equipment also, I just don’t like paying for it. Now is the time to get it before retirement as the wife will tighten the purse strings even more then. I have shot with the MB-D10 since I purchased my D300, when I got the D90 as a back up I tried it without the battery pack and found that it felt to small for my hands and the balancing was off. It adds weight but once you get used to the feel anything else seems like a toy. The added back up battery in the winter is nice also.
I answered your question on my site but I also will place it here. The bird was photographed with the 200-400 at full zoom, the aperature was f6-3. So far I like the lens but have not formed an opinion yet. I need to use it more. I have found that it is not as tack sharp as the 70-200 F2.8 and yesterday I went out to practice panning birds and it did not focus as fast ar easy as that lens. Next week I plan to give it a big workout so I will know more. I will be June before I give it a better workout on big game. At this point I am a little disapointed considering the price.
